Greetings,

Today serving at a client location, I got sudden word that they were going to
attempt to upgrade Object REXX on a test server. Alarmed as I (last time I was
serving here) remembered a note in the
database about "Object REXX 2.1.1 was the end of the line" as newer versions
would gripe at some trailing NULL characters in source code files. I soon
learned from the tech lead that the note was
specific to the Agent server, whereas they were planning to upgrade the Hub
server.

And...

drum roll...

They were not just proposing to "finally" upgrade to the last IBM build (2.1.3)
but all the way to current ooRexx!

I fortunately warned the tech lead to save off the RxFTP.dll file, they did so.

After the upgrade, the tech lead did a performance test. They had some
trace/logging turned on for the test.

However...

They observed a 45% performance throughput improvement by upgrading Object REXX
2.1.1 to current ooRexx! And that was with ZERO code change! Probably even a
better margin of improvement with the code
not running in debug/trace mode.

I am thankful,
