I'm not sure what you are suggesting here. To me a mirror site is a copy of the main site, and therefore updates would still have go to the main site. If SourceForge remained as the main site you would still have to use SVN to apply your changes to the source code.
If you are talking about moving the entire project to GitHub, then my question is how do we move all the infrastructure, such as mail lists, bug reports, and binary file distribution.
