There are use cases (like the above) where this comes in to be quite handy. So the question would be, whether such a feature would be possible and desirable for ooRexx?
As it happens, the original REX (1979) allowed strings to span multiple lines, just like that. I changed this (by popular request) because it was extremely error-prone. Leaving off a quote could 'eat' several lines, and leaving off one twice (e.g., by copying a faulty line) could be truly astonishing. :-) Mike
