This is Xubuntu 16.04

So does ooRexx 5.0 have kicked up C++ expectations that older distros might not have? If so, all the more reason to get ooRexx 4.2 to build / test out cleanly on older still supported LTS releases of Ubuntu!

Do you have /usr/include/pthread.h available?

mdlueck@buildxd1604x64:~/Documents/oorexxbuild/release$ ls -al
/usr/include/pthread.h
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 41225 Jan 14 21:49 /usr/include/pthread.h

You could try starting with a fresh build directory for 5.0, run cmake and
check config.h again

Would I not be silly to try the exact same steps over again expecting different
results?

I am thankful,
