In the meantime you can use SSL/TLS by taking advantage of the external ooRexx 
package named
"BSF4ooRexx".

Check out my slides (aimed at beginner students at a Business Administration 
university) at (1).

The slides in (2) introduce the external ooRexx function package "BSF4ooRexx" 
and gives examples of
how to exploit it with ooRexx.

The slides in (3) introduce socket programming via BSF4ooRexx and in the 
addendum at the end you
will learn how to use SSL/TLS, which is surprisingly easy!

It is straight-forward, you use plain ooRexx. :)
