Enrico was kind enough to make his changes available.
Indeed it has become possible to create a universal version of ooRexx on Intel
and in the meantime I
succeeded to create a universal version of BSF4ooRexx as well (Apple users may
want to check it out
from <https://sourceforge.net/projects/bsf4oorexx/files/beta/20200928/>). The
installation and
testing of a few BSF4ooRexx programs (excercising ooRexx and Java) has been
working flawlessly so
far. [Maybe even Enrico would like to test Java camouflaged as ooRexx on his
M1? ;) If so, I would
suggest to use a M1-Java with JavaFX such that the JavaFX samples can be tested
as well, e.g. a free
OpenJDK 11 LTS version from
<https://cdn.azul.com/zulu/bin/zulu11.48.21-ca-fx-jdk11.0.11-macosx_aarch64.zip>.

The universal build of ooRexx on an Intel machine was done with:
cmake -DBUILD_OSX_UNIVERSAL_BINARIES=1 ~/path-to-oorexx-trunk
