I'm in favour of both suggestions, but don't put your hopes too high for the machine/processor bit. Basically this will be the output of uname -p with names decided by the distribution, e. g. x86_64 (Linux et al.) amd64 (e. g. OpenBSD, FreeBsd) i86pc (OpenIndiana) s390x (ibm)
