Franz, While I congratulate you on your achievements, I must correct you on this misconception: PL/I (i am proud, an Austrian Language-Development) and from the end of 1970's
PL/I was designed in NYC and implemented in Hursley, UK, as Checkout and Optimizing Compiler. The IBM Lab Vienna developed a Formal Definition of PL/I (Syntax and Semantics) comprising several hundred pages called ULD (Universal Language Definition). The Lab (dissolved in 1995) developed a REXX Compiler for VM (and then MVS) based on Feasability studies done in Israel.
