Hey Dave, No excuses needed; after all this is a volunteer business; it's just that all that c++ stuff is just a little too far over my head to do it myself; in fact I was pretty satisfied I could pin the segmentation fault down to that particular statement with the help of gdb.
I'll see if I can get some more insight in what is going wrong and why and will post here any new findings.
