Hello Mike,
A quick P.S.
I have two requests / suggestions concerning the flags available on the
test program.
*EXCLUDE SPECIFIC TEST OR TESTS*
This idea came to me, as I wondering what would happen if my system as able
to continue past the currently failing because of a crash (abend) test.
Right now, I can't tell if this is the only problem or say the first of
dozens.
This flag would be the opposite of the "-f" flag and say similar to the -X
flag. NOTE: One additional difference between this new flag and the "-f"
flag is the new flag would support multiple tests. Based upon the current
design, I would see this flag as the "-x" flag (and like -X it would
support multiple *individual *tests).
NOTE: I suspect this flag doesn't exist because the error is so terminal.
Obviously people would want to know about all of the problems found by the
test suit, not just the first one. Thus maybe adding this flag isn't
really very important given how few times this situation may arise, but it
is also very ending till fix issue.
*IMPROVED DOCUMENTATION FOR THE -X FLAG*
One thought to cross my mind was to use the -X flag to skip the test
causing the crash / abend. I realized there are two problems with this
idea:
1. Using the -X flag would skip all the same type of tests, which
wouldn't be good. Other individual tests in this type might also fail.
2. I don't know all of the test types nor the one related to the failing
test, even if #1 (above) didn't matter to me (or I was taking a short view
of the issue). One thought would be to have the HELP list all the types -X
supports should the user use the flags (-help and -X at the same time, any
order).
Well, maybe both suggestions are from a practical point moot, but I'm just
suggesting test from the perspective of someone new to the test suite and
having a terminal error.
Again thank you so very much for developing and support ooRexx, as well as
the user community! :-)
