Addressing Santhosh'comment; you are right, last patch would have created a 
conflict for the appender, appender is overridden only if the 'gz' properties 
are moved below the defaults. 
Tested the changes.

This is Kiran's patch. I am uploading the diff as he is not here. As per 
Mohammad's comment, keeping the default log4j properties file unchanged.

At present, every one hour, the log file oozie.log is rolled into another log 
file in the same text format. Instead of doing that, the log files can be 
rolled into .gz format to aid compression and archiving.
