Xerces validator used by Java gets stuck during pattern matching

The regex validator tries to validate the 'workflow-app name' against the
pattern
<xs:pattern value="([a-zA-Z_]([\-_a-zA-Z0-9])*){1,39})"/>. If the 'name' is
very long and doesn't match against the pattern used in schema, it gets stuck
for a
long time and heavily increases the CPU usage.
Specifically the users saw this when they used a period in their wf name
This problem is solved in xerces 2.10.
