This is a request for comment. Currently OpenAxiom (and any AXIOM flavour) uses the export `escape' from the Character domain as name for the underscore character. I'm planning to change that. Here is the proposed change:
-- introduce a new export `underscore' to designate the underbar character (what the current `escape' export designates.) -- modify the `escape' export to designate the escape character (fro the ASCII table). The rationale for the change is that the existing semantics of the export is almost useless. Understand (_) is the escape character of the Spad syntax, but it is better to just call it by its name: underscore. That makes room to name the escape character... escape!
