Why not use the name Open Rendering Card, ORC. Or some variation?

Let's look at this a different way.

OGRE's a great name.  Unfortunately, they beat us to it.  By asking
them to let us use their name, we're saying that we don't respect that
they had the good idea first.  Even posing the question could be a
very rude thing to do.

I'm not necessarily saying that we should give up on the idea
entirely, but the project goals are so similar that it doesn't seem
right. We need to do this in an ethical and professional manner.

Besides, I think with our combined creativity, we can come up with
another name just as creative that hasn't already been used by
something involved with 3D graphics.
