The idea was that they'd be two identical, ordinary cards. If it was easy it would be kind of nice but otherwise not worth bothering with. As a PCI card, the bus would be an even worse bottleneck. Textures would have to be loaded onto both cards, the lights would dim. I just mentioned it for completeness.
