They still have to subscribe in order to use gmane to post [1], but then they can post via NNTP instead. gmane will first verify their email address using a challenge-response scheme [2] to verify that the sender is valid, then it'll pass the message on to the list as if the user sent it. I'd say the likelihood of spam through gmane is negligible. johannes [1] unless this list allows posting from non-subscribed addresses, not sure right now. [2] using tmda
