Webpack 7.1i is available for either Windows or Linux. The only reason
to run it under WINE is that some people have had trouble installing the
Linux version, since Red Hat Enterprise Linux 3 is the only distribution
Xilinx supports. (I was able to get it running on Fedora Core 3 by
addingsome older shared libraries from Fedora Core 2.) The drawback
of Webpack 7.1i is that it does NOT target the XC3S4000, though it does
target the XC3S1500 which is apparently slated for the "small" version
of the FPGA platform but will not be large enough for the 3D stuff.

Webpack 6.3i is available for Windows only, but will run under WINE. In
my experience, it runs much faster if you use Windows on VMware on Linux
instead. If you have a service pack installed, it does target the
XC3S4000 as well as all the smaller XC3S parts.

We're hoping that Xilinx will see fit to adding the XC3S4000 to the list
of supported devices in Webpack 7.2i.
