[01:53] <SecretSquirrel> how goes the world tonight?
[01:58] <SecretSquirrel> Hrm, quiet I guess.
[02:49] <wt> quiet indeed
[03:06] *** SecretSquirrel is now known as squirrel_away
[03:20] *** TriztZZzzz is now known as TriztAway
[04:57] *** chip___ is now known as chip_
[15:08] *** Alexliu has left
[15:17] *** TriztAway is now known as Trizt
[15:46] <Lord_Icon> yes
[15:46] <Lord_Icon> very quiet
[15:46] <Lord_Icon> :D
[15:47] <karlmag> sssh.. don't wake anyone :)
[15:47] <Lord_Icon> :D
[15:47] <Lord_Icon> OKIE DOKIE!
[15:47] <nh> *yawn*
[15:47] <Lord_Icon> woah
[15:47] * nh rolls over
[15:47] * nh goes back to sleep
[15:47] * Lord_Icon slaps nh
[15:47] <nh> heh :)
[15:47] <Lord_Icon> :D
[15:48] <nh> This is a nice roundabout way for spamming the mailing list ;)
[15:49] <Lord_Icon> it sure is
[15:49] * Lord_Icon garnishes Lord_Icon's wages!
[15:49] * Lord_Icon zones nh as Residential
[15:49] * Lord_Icon slaps squirrel_work with a thick piece of mahogony!
[15:49] <nh> o_o
[15:49] <Lord_Icon> mwhahaha!
[15:50] <karlmag> doesn't strike me as a nice thing to do (yeah, pun intended ;)
[15:50] <Lord_Icon> heehe
[15:52] * Lord_Icon #includes <iostream>
[15:54] <karlmag> I'm trying to read up on the mailinglist from time-to-time,
but can't say I manage to keep up...
[15:55] <Lord_Icon> i'm doing pretty good
[15:55] <Lord_Icon> was there a time about a week ago where there were no
postings?
[15:55] <karlmag> what's the current intended/hoped timeline for a finished
product? (end user)
[15:55] <nh> I'm basically waiting for something to happen on the software side.
[15:56] <nh> I don't know anything about PCI, I try to avoid VGA, and I'm only
just learning VHDL (not Verilog), so...
[15:56] <Lord_Icon> i'm hoping i can get enough stuff crammed in my brain to
write drivers for this
[15:56] *** Trizt is now known as TriztAway
[15:56] <karlmag> not being either hardware or software programmer I guess the
best thing I can do is to buy a card or two when available
[15:56] <nh> Welcome to the club, Lord_Icon :)
[15:57] <Lord_Icon> i've never written drivers or anything low level like that
before, so i'm going to get a bunch of books and spend the next 3 or 4 months
reading and learning crap
[15:57] <karlmag> "Linux Device Drivers 3rd ed"? :)
[15:58] <Lord_Icon> hehe
[15:58] <nh> I'm working on the DRI driver for the R300 family (not as much as
I'd like due to real world time constraints), and boy is the lack of
documentation frustrating.
[15:58] <Lord_Icon>
[15:58] <Lord_Icon> stupid lack of documentation
[15:58] <TriztAway> Lord_Icon; kernel 2.6 driver only or 2.4 too?
[15:59] <Lord_Icon> i'm probably going to be writing a windows driver, as i'm
most used to that OS
[15:59] <Lord_Icon> but mabye i'll try my hand at linux drivers down the road a
bit
[15:59] <nh> ah, that is going to be interesting
[16:00] <Lord_Icon> yeah
[16:00] <Lord_Icon> :D
[16:00] <nh> are there *any* open source device drivers for windows at all?
[16:00] <Lord_Icon> i have no idea, but just as a guess, i'm going with no
[16:00] <nh> There are a few kernel drivers (ext2?) that are open source, but
actual hardware drivers?
[16:01] <karlmag> I believe I've heard about it, but no names are popping up
[16:04] <karlmag> anyway.. timeline... I beleive I saw something about 1st or
2nd quarter of next year?
[16:04] <karlmag> or am I dreaming again?
[16:04] <Lord_Icon> might have been a chart possibly with color, and grpahics,
and stuff and things
[16:05] <karlmag> could be
[16:05] <Lord_Icon> :D
[16:06] <karlmag> (wasn't something I read today, btw, but a few weeks back)
[16:06] <nh> http://opengraphics.gitk.com/ogplan.jpg <-- Timothy posted that a
while back
[16:06] <karlmag> that looks somewhat familiar
[16:06] <karlmag> Q1, 2k6
[16:07] <nh> It's not clear when the first prototype board will be available to
outsiders, but it's going to take some time
[16:09] <nh> hmm.. November
[16:10] <Lord_Icon> NOVEMBER!
[16:11] * Lord_Icon slaps #opengraphics with NOVEMBER!
[16:12] <karlmag> november is half a year away.. finished product is some
months after that... I can wait for that.
[16:12] <nh> I'm going to buy the project board as soon as possible
[16:13] <Lord_Icon> i hear that
[19:46] <TriztAway> Lord_Icon; so we can expect a finished product earliest in
early 2006?
[19:59] *** TriztAway is now known as Trizt
[20:04] *** Trizt is now known as TriztZZzzz
[22:04] <Lord_Icon> Trizt: it looks that way
