Apropos why not use a HDMI-in instead of a DVI-in?
Advantages would be to have a connector that might
get signals from future VCR and DVD systems and becaus
of its backwards compatibility we still could connect
a DVI port over an adapter. Disadvantages are that
it's a lot more complicated than DVI (dual channel
plus double speed = 4 times the bandwidth)

Highly dependent on the country you live in. While some
disallow any tempering with encrypted data (DMCA&Co) others
allow to do anything with media streams you recieved over
the ether or bought in a shop, as long as it stays private
only.

HDCP does not, if i understood waht i've read about it correctly,
but HDMI does.
(Beside that HDCP is a protocol to run over HDMI&Co)

There wont be any to buy :(
The only way to tell MPAA&Co that CSS, HDCP and the like are
BS^2 is to reverse engineere them and make the tools to circumvent
them publicly available.
