If too many people get complacent and think that OGA is going to be "bug-free" just because it's open source, then not enough people will test it, and it won't be bug-free. Also, remember that the only way that the RTL for OGA will be released BEFORE the chip is if some philanthropist plops $2 million in our laps with few strings attached. Otherwise, any normal business willing to invest that kind of money is barely going to be willing to release the RTL after a time delay. (Another possibility is if Traversal makes at least $2 million in profit from other products such as OGD.) Developing and testing OGA won't be an easy process. It'll be a lot like, say, using Gmail Beta. Plenty of people will test it, and we'll listen to bug reports, but only a select few will get to see the source code before it's too late. Does that suck? Of course it does. I'm not sure how much it would help to release the RTL early, but it would certainly help SOME. I just gotta find $2 million! Let me see if I have that sitting in my closet somewhere. :) _______________________________________________ Open-graphics mailing list [email protected] http://lists.duskglow.com/mailman/listinfo/open-graphics List service provided by Duskglow Consulting, LLC (www.duskglow.com)
