If Traversal is a kind of "support" for the OG project, it's like the Mozilla

Maybe if Traversal is called a "Foundation" and not a "compagny",it could be
more clear for every body what is the goal of Traversal. ("Traversal
Foundation" ?)

Foundations are usually non-profit. What businesses partner with
non-profit organizations?

I want Traversal to have growth in mind. This kind of growth would
give us more and more ability to develop a more diverse array of
FOSS-friendly products.

As with anyone who starts a company, I'm doing what I want. It just
so happens that what I want is freedom and more FOSS-friendly
hardware. No harm in applying capitalism to that.

I just remember that the mozilla foundation have some humain ressouce (10
people) so Traversal could copy the same kind of organisation.

Because, it's about hardware, we (the FOSS communauty) could understand that
you sell your IP to other compagny (not under the GPL licence) and you sell
cards.

It's the same business model than Trolltech for Qt and MySQL labs for MySQL.

Mozilla Foundation live only with donation from big compagny.

We're trying to become self-sufficient. We prefer to voluntarily do
what the community says than to be forced into doing what our
financiers dictate. Of course, with business relationships, we'll
make some compromises, but we can choose to make those which don't
hurt the project.

In other words, it seems to me that Traversal is much the same as the Mozilla Corporation.

In fact, once you have the product out and have time to focus on such things, you might want to look into setting yourself up in much the same way as Mozilla has: a not-for-profit organization, and a privately-held company that is wholly owned by that organization. The business is free to do all the businessy-type things, but it has to act in the interest of its shareholders, which in this case is the non-profit. And since the non-profit's mission is, say, "bettering the FOSS community", no one has to be afraid of the company exploiting them.

Unfortunately, I'm not sure how this all would fit in with getting investors at the start. :-\
