Xilinx.

I am thinking about the final price for the board and their software. In my country the US dollar is nearly 2:1 and according to this page
http://www.xilinx.com/xlnx/xebiz/productview_ise.jsp?sGlobalNavPick=PRODUCTS&sSecondaryNavPick=Design+Tools&category=-21393
and their current ISE is about $2,495 and out of stock. Ugh. that is near 5k here.

lets see about the ISE 6.3i..
6.3 is apparently the first for Linux and Windows. Uh huh.
And is called one of the 'classics' which are for free. Sounds good.

The 6.3i list of chips it supports is here:
http://www.xilinx.com/ise/products/classics/parts_list.htm
which lists Spartan IIE, but has a limitation of 300k gates? I Wonder what exactly that means. So far I have not find anything in the release notes for the service packs. If we can use this, it would be great.

anyone up to checking? I probably wont get a chance for a few more days.
