I assume you meant to say "the map is not sufficient."

Given the wide variety of web browsers, the wide variety of features that are
and are not supported by various browsers, and the buggy nature of most (all?)
browsers, I suggest the KISS approach. Keep it simple, only use fancy features
if they really add significant value.

In my opinion, the map is nice, but doesn't add significant value. Since the
image map doesn't seem to crash browsers, and it is already in there, I'm not
going to lobby for its removal. Definitely keep the illustration.

The real issue I have with this, is that looking that the page, it promises
info if I click on the image, but doesn't deliver. There is no easy way for
the casual viewer to know if they are missing something or not. (Doing
'view source' and wading through it might be easy for a webmeister, but not
for the general public.) Not a great interface for a project that is
about open documentation.

If you want to keep the map, perhaps change the message to something like
"For more information on a component, either click on the image or use the list
below."

Even then, you still have the issue of more than one file for the main chip.

-----

On the topic of who can edit. Hopefully the OGP will not be the target of a
web-vandal, but note that wikipedia has had some problems. Perhaps there is
a middle ground between admin-only and anonymous.
