disclaimer: I know next to nothing about PCI.

As some of you might already know, Lattice provides a few "free" and open-source IP cores. One such core is a PCI controller for XP (our smaller FPGA).

While I am sure it is "bloated" and probably useless in an ASIC (and the EULA requires you to use it with lattice parts only), it might serve as a good reference design for OGD1. Furthermore, some of the gurus on comp.arch.fpga has stated that this core is much nicer than the open source one on OpenCores.org, but I really cant tell as I have tested neither of those.

So if anyone cares to setup a testbench, we could test our PCI controller against theirs (and OpenCores). I would do it myself, but I recently have come to accept that I am too dumb for hardware design ;)

BTW, in case anyone cares, lattice also have a popular microcontroller called Mico8 under GPL. Nothing that boots Linux, but if you liked the PIC line, you will love this one :)
