If you have fb utils instaled /etc/fb.modes have a short list and man fb.modes have the format and other usefull info.
gft comes with 4.0+ version of X and is based in the VESA Generalized Timing Formula.
I do not known how to get gft program to generate interlaced modes, but the formula allows it.
with gft 1024 768 60 -f you get the mode in fb.modes format
