And by the way: someone mentioned the 7600gs having dual-link DVI. The
7600gs does have dual-link DVI, but I am not sure if both ports on
(all?) dual-port cards are dual-link enabled.
That was me. I've made a small research on this, but the only thing I
know for sure is that the Apple versions of these (well one nvidia and
one ati card in price range $300-400) cards are 100% capable of two dual
links - because they are advertising 2x 30" LCDs per card.
The other card vendors (in PC, x86 segment) do not specify the
parameters always.. but we can assume that in the cheap cards, there is
only one dual link dvi, the other one is single link:
"Dual DVI (with one Dual-link DVI, support up to 2560x1600)
and Video out connector with HDTV support."

"Dual DVI (with Dual-link DVI, support up to 2560x1600)
and Video out connector with HDTV support."
http://www.gainward.de/media/files/Specifications/8040_Bliss7600GS_PCX_DD_512MB_SilentFX_datasheet.pdf
(the first card is significantly faster (560MHz core + DDR3 vs. 400MHz
core + DDR2), so it does not make much sense if the second one will
support dual link on both dvi ports).
Daniel.
