I found the link to nouveau (http://nouveau.freedesktop.org/wiki/) the most interesting bit in the comments, but I only briefly skimmed them and French is my fourth language :-). I think I got the gist of it though, the positions were more or less the same as here: some people would like fully open hardware, others are fine with well-documented proprietary hardware that allows a free driver to be written. And the fully open people were informed that RMS didn't agree with them. I also learned that the French word for driver is "pilote". I think I'm going to use that in Dutch and English as well.
