I'm somewhat against this. It's an effort to write such a document
correctly and we need to keep it up to date. And as i said, it's
like assuming that people who want to compile a program do not
have a c compiler installed. In the unix world, latex is standard
and can be easily installed. In windows/MacOS there are easy to
use packages.
Anything more than just pointing to one of the many latex sites
on the net is from my point of view a waste of time and effort.

In my book, this is a given thing. There should not be one line
of code, no matter in what language, that is not "compiled" using
a Makefile :-)
In all projects i do (private or public) there is a central
Makefile that generates all the files within the project.
Be it programs, documents, graphics or whatever. Some of
them even generate the Makefile itself using m4 :-)

Given we have a Makefile, then this isnt so hard, just needs
a little bit of time to write and test.
