I just got back from the ASP-DAC conference held this last week. There was
a University Design Contest entry for an AMBA bus snooper. There was a
poster available, but I wasn't able to track down any of the authors.
However, I thought of the recent discussion on monitoring the PCI bus.

It seems that the experiences from snooping the AMBA bus could be quite
useful when applied to a PCI bus. Of note, they gave brief mention to
compression schemes (omit sequential addresses, store data differentials,
encode status bits) which they claimed allowed an average compression rate
of 96%.

I don't know when the proceedings will be available online, but I have the
electronic proceedings. The project was completed by Chung-Fu Kao, Chi-Hung
Lin, and Ing-Jer Huang of National Sun Yat-Sen University.

/Goes back to lurking.
