The problem is that we work on a quite small FPGA.
And decoding MPEG is something that does not neatly
fit into hardware. To be done efficiently you need
software too, which in turn requires a CPU. But we
don't have enough space to implement a GPU and a CPU
while still maintaining a manageble system
(systems where two units can access the same resources
are magnitutes more complicated to design and implement).
