"As of April 2007, there has been no Linux support; Linux users are unable to generate any sound from the card. Creative, on May 18th, 2006 issued a statement that a closed-source Linux driver that works with the Advanced Linux Sound Architecture will be available in the second quarter of 2007." http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sound_Blaster_X-Fi
I don't find original statement. But creative are often the default choice for a high level sound card. So there is a room for a high quality audio sound card.
From my point of view, a sound card is a 64 bits DSP (for 24 bits
sample without worry) and good DAC/ADC and pcb quality. It look like to be much easier than a 3D card. We need a dsp with good gcc support, and a good PCB designer to lower the noise :(24 bits @ 96 Khz), it is always fun when you read 100 dB as output quality in the spec (24 bits give you 144 dB max). Maybe OGD1 could help ? _______________________________________________ Open-graphics mailing list [EMAIL PROTECTED] http://lists.duskglow.com/mailman/listinfo/open-graphics List service provided by Duskglow Consulting, LLC (www.duskglow.com)
