That being said, if you have documentation on how the VGA BIOS should
be arranged (tables and such), there's no harm in getting a look at a
real one to make sure you have understood the standard.  I would just
avoid looking at any code specific to one of the major vendors.
Perhaps you could get your hands on a card made by a company that is
now defunct.  I see no reason why you couldn't use this as a means to
verify facts that are otherwise publically available.
