Do it. My preference is release it under AGPLv3. Have you had a discussion with the SUNY licensing folks? What I read at https://portal.rfsuny.org/portal/page/portal/The%20Research%20Foundation%20of%20SUNY/home/commercialization/comm_policies_guidance/suny_copyright_policy sounds like a very good deal. If you decide to pull the trigger and fill out a rfsuny.org technology disclosure form, (which I think you should), please let the commercialization folks know I would like to discuss open-hardware patent cross licensing with them, as well as how to work with senior design teams at Iowa State and University of Minnesota on the OpenShader project. The biggest argument **FOR** giving the SUNY system a 60% cut is this: https://portal.rfsuny.org/portal/page/portal/The%20Research%20Foundation%20of%20SUNY/home/commercialization/comm_policies_guidance/protection_intellectual_property We will now have a very big stick to go after the inevitable violations when some chip maker rips off the HDL code and tries to avoid paying for a commercial license. (while I'm digging on the SUNY RF website, I wonder if this has any application in openshader.. http://suny.technologypublisher.com/technology/9293 ) _______________________________________________ Open-graphics mailing list [email protected] http://lists.duskglow.com/mailman/listinfo/open-graphics List service provided by Duskglow Consulting, LLC (www.duskglow.com)
