No network cards *need* a BIOS.

Some have option ROMs which is the BIOS expansion module concept,
but that option ROM is needed only for booting from the network,
nothing else.

The best you can do may be to use a USB network card with a simple
kernel driver, where ethernet packets are sent out over USB, rather
than a device with more complicated processing. Low cost devices tend
to be simpler, but you do have to look at the driver to make sure,
and finding what chipset is actually in a particular product on store
shelf is kindof difficult. Ask the internet, or take a chance buying
a couple of different ones. Don't be surprised if you find that all
of them have the same chipset. :)
