David,

I'm pretty comfortable with Linux, but a noob to Evergreen.  Sounds like my situation.  I followed the instructions through once using Debian, figuring that's more stable than Ubuntu.  That didn't work, so I installed Ubuntu and gave it another try.  I'm not sure if it was Ubuntu or if I was more comfortable with installation process.

I followed the installation through and corrected any errors that I found after running Open-ILS/src/support-scripts/settings-tester.pl -- a great tool, by the way.

I still got an error message when trying to login via srfsh.  I then rebooted the server and started Evergreen services and got a successful login.  I downloaded the client onto another machine and got a connection.

Problem is I don't know the default password for admin.

Can anybody help there?

Also, are there any K-12 users out there?  I'm currently a sysadmin for a large school district.  I'm only curious at this point, so would like much more info.

Finally, sorry for cross-posting.  A couple of these questions went out on the general list.

Thanks in advance,

Pete Ahlen

Subject: [OPEN-ILS-DEV] Problem with evergreen install on ubuntu 8.04

Hello.  I have installed ubuntu on a server and have twice attempted to follow the wiki directions for evergreen install hanging up on the 4th step each time.  When I get to "creatlang plperl evergreen" the system says not a valid directory or file.  I felt I had missed a step but going back through methodically yields the same result.  Does this sound familiar to anyone?  I admit I am linux challenged but have worked with it a little in the past.

Thanks,
Dave
