I am Snigdha, an undergraduate student. I am looking forward to applying
as a student in Evergreen for one of the projects. I have already gone
through the ideas page and am working on understanding the basics as of
now. I shall be thankful for any guidance from the team members about
how to go about.

The quickest way to get up and running with a test Evergreen system is to download the developer virtual image [1]. That link also points to some tutorial information about the underpinnings of Evergreen.

Our main IRC channel is #evergreen on Freenode, and that's the best place to go for quick answers about the development environment. One thing to keep in mind, however, is that the majority of active contributors live in North America; while many of us are night owls, the channel is most active during UTC-4 working hours.
