Hi Dananji,

Welcome! Once you've had a chance to get familiar with Evergreen and have an idea of which project you are interested in, you might want to start with trying to fix one of our bitesize bugs or, if you decide to work on documentation, our bitesize documentation bugs. We have links to these bugs in the "Application requirement" section of our OPW page. http://wiki.evergreen-ils.org/doku.php?id=opw. Also note that if you are planning to submit an application for a coding project, then downloading and installing Evergreen should be one of the things you do as you get familiar with the software.

Feel free to post questions here or in the #evergreen IRC channel if you come across any problems or have further questions!

Thanks a lot Yamil for the quick reply.

I'm going through the Evergreen documentation and trying it out. I would like to work on either Documentation or Coding as long as I'm contributing to the community.

What would you recommend as starter tasks to do when I get familiar with Evergreen?

Thanks,
Dananji Liyanage

    Hello,

I am involved in the OPW project (Outreach Program for Women) for
the Evergreen community. I am a mentor for the program, but only
for the Evergreen Documentation project, but not for the coding or
the UI Evergreen projects, etc. Do you know what project you might
want to work with, because this will let us know which mentor(s)
should respond to you to give you more help?

I suspect that you have already seen the Evergreen wiki page
    dedicated to OPW http://wiki.evergreen-ils.org/doku.php?id=opw. I
would recommend starting by going through some of the other tasks
in the "Learning About Evergreen" section of
    http://wiki.evergreen-ils.org/doku.php?id=opw#learning_about_evergreen.
Specifically, I would download the staff client from the community
demo page and read through the existing documentation to learn a
    little about how Evergreen works.

Let me know if this helps,
    Yamil

        Hi all,

I'm Dananji Liyanage, an Computer Science and Engineering
undergraduate from University of Moratuwa Sri Lanka. I was
going through the project list for the OutreachProgramForWomen
and is very keen on contributing to the Evergreen project.

I'm very interested in contributing but if someone can help me
get started ( the to-do's for a newbie) that would be really
        helpful.
