I started working on this for the Pioneer implementation, but at some point abandoned the project. I found an Excel sheet in my files (attached, FWIW; data on sheet 1 and sheet 2) listing some subset of permissions with descriptions of the permission (Allows user to... format).
I have NO IDEA of the provenance of this doc - I suspect I copied it from somewhere and appended to it? made it up myself in a fugue state?? I don't even remember what exact version it addresses (1.6 something, I'm fairly sure.) So, um... enjoy? :-) Lindsay Stratton Training Coordinator Pioneer Library System 2557 State Rte 21 Canandaigua, NY 14424 http://www.pls-net.org ----- Original Message ----- From: "Jennifer M Turner" <[email protected]> To: "Documentation discussion for Evergreen software" <[email protected]> Sent: Thursday, May 12, 2011 3:35:23 PM GMT -05:00 US/Canada Eastern Subject: Re: [OPEN-ILS-DOCUMENTATION] Evergreen Permissions descriptions/map/matrix documentation? I also strongly agree with all of Robert’s suggestions. Getting permissions ironed out was one of our biggest issues when we went live on Evergreen – and we still have questions. A list of “recommended permissions” for the various Evergreen modules and/or library employees (circ, cataloging, acq, serials, branch managers, etc…) could be useful, too. I tried to start something like this WAY back when we were setting our libraries up, but I didn’t get very far, since permissions like “CREATE_LASSO_MAP” kept me in a continually perplexed state, since I had – and have – no idea what that permission might be used for! Although getting a comprehensive list of permissions and definitions/descriptions will be a challenge, once a list is assembled, it * shouldn’t * be too difficult to maintain…ideally developers could/would release descriptions of what permissions do when they are added to the code.
