+1 for adding these improvements. Navigating the Wiki is a big hassle some
times.

Subject: [OPEN-ILS-DOCUMENTATION] Wiki improvements?

Afternoon all,

I had wanted to come to the DIG interest group at the conference, but wasn't
able to make it. I was there in spirit!

I'd like to make some improvements to the Evergreen wiki, and so wanted to run
some ideas by the group. We use Dokuwiki here at PINES for our documentation,
and we've added some plugins and structures that have been really useful for us.

1. Using hierarchical breadcrumbs. This gives (and encourages) more structure
in pages, and in following a path to related information. There's a lot of
great info in the wiki, but there's not a lot of structure there to link things
together.

2. A couple of plugins that have been super useful for us are edittable (
<https://www.dokuwiki.org/plugin:edittable>
https://www.dokuwiki.org/plugin:edittable) and move (
<https://www.dokuwiki.org/plugin:move> https://www.dokuwiki.org/plugin:move).
The first one allows you to make easily customizable tables that look like
this--
<https://pines.georgialibraries.org/dokuwiki/doku.php?id=acq:defaults#cancel_reasons>

https://pines.georgialibraries.org/dokuwiki/doku.php?id=acq:defaults#cancel_reasons.
 The second allows you to easily rename pages and/or change their namespaces
without breaking links. We use several other plugins that are really useful,
but those are probably the top ones for us.

3. Utilizing sidebar pages. In the same vein as point #1 about adding
structure, we use sidebar pages to structure a whole namespace and give quick
links to any particular page. If you add a sidebar page to a namespace, it adds
a sidebar to the left of any page in that namespace. Like this:
<https://pines.georgialibraries.org/dokuwiki/doku.php?id=acq:home>
https://pines.georgialibraries.org/dokuwiki/doku.php?id=acq:home

Does anyone have any thoughts or objections to making these changes or adding
these plugins? And if no one objects, how would we go about doing that? I have
no idea who the actual admin(s) for the wiki are. :)

Thanks all!
