And perhaps I should say, we have the III bookings module. It has it's
problems, but it does work, but doesn't work as I described the
requirements below.

To piggy-back on Advance Booking:
As a consortium, we like advance booking as well. However, we have
libraries that use the bookings module to book not only items, but
rooms, computers, video equipment, etc. It would be great to have the
ability to create different material types that could be booked. Of
course, we also need it to work consortial-wide so that every library
can see what's booked and available.

2) Advance booking
Similar to holds, except we would like the ability to reserve
materials for a specific time in the future (e.g., a professor wants
to show a video in a class two months from now). So, if the material
is checked out slightly before the time, the loan period might need to
be shortened. Also, the ability to create recurring bookings and to
add many items into one booking (like a shopping cart). It gets a bit
tricky when we have multiple, identical copies of an item to be
booked...
Would you want patrons (or specific groups of patrons) to be able to
place an advance booking directly, or would you prefer requests to be
mediated through a staff person? Or perhaps allow patrons to place
requests, but have them mediated electronically?
Right now, patrons go through a staff person, and these functions are
only available via the staff interface. For us, requesting advance
bookings
directly and electronic mediation would be "nice to haves".
Thanks Dan!
