I've installed Evergreen on a Ubuntu 8.10 - Intrepid Ibex desktop version, on a Dell Inspiron 8600. Managed to get the installation right afaik. Login from srfsh works. But when I try to run the staff client I get the following error:

----- Begin error message dump -----

Network or server failure. Please check your Internet connection to localhost and choose Retry Network. If you need to enter Offline Mode, choose Ignore Errors in this and subsequent dialogs. If you believe this error is due to a bug in Evergreen and not network problems, please contact your help desk or friendly Evergreen administrators, and give them this information:
method=open-ils.auth.session.retrieve

STATUS:

----- End error message dump -----

"STATUS:" in the last line of the error log above is empty - there is no value displayed.

I'm running on localhost.

Other symptoms: when I try to run the browser client, I get the Evergreen search page but nothing works. If I use the "Basic Catalog (HTML only)" option, it shows "[an error occurred while processing this directive]" just before the "Select language" button.

I did see a similar post elsewhere with a suggested solution but that hasn't worked for me.

I'm new to Evergreen and would greatly appreciate any help. Thanks.

Warm regards,

Alan
