George,
You are right on track, at least IMO. Sometimes a nice canned report that you just tell to run is perfect. Other times, you need to be able to select some of the elements. I have two concepts of a canned report. One is any pre-defined report with static elements and a fixed structure. The static elements could include a pick list of commonly used filters and display categories. These reports are tested and proven and next to impossible to screw up. The other concept is a pre-scheduled report where the end-user merely accesses the data, like the circulation reports for individual months. In this type of report, the results are canned and can't be altered. While we can create all of this ourselves, a canned report for those things that all of us do would be so helpful. I am trying to network with other Evergreen libraries on a variety of end-user issues and would like to start by discussing Evergreen's Report Module. If changes were to be made in Reports, what changes would you like to see?
