Can you confirm that:
1) /usr/local/lib/ contains libdbi.so
2) the libdbi packages from Ubuntu are not installed ("sudo aptitude
remove libdbi0 && sudo rm /usr/lib/libdbi.so")
Then re-run make?
If you start with a clean system, then an Evergreen install should work
fine as documented. But if the system has had other packages installed
on it that conflict with Evergreen requirements, well...
