A handful of libraries, with varying metrics, in the Sitka consortium
use RFID - I think all use 3M equipment. At least one libraries has
gates, self-check terminals (checkout only - no checkin), and reader
pads at staff workstations.
The 3M pads have a desktop app that switches the pad between
'sensitizing' and 'desensitizing' (to use the old Tattle-Tape terms)
modes; they set it up to use the same keypresses as the checkin and
checkout keyboard shortcuts for the staff client, so the task doesn't
need to be duplicated. One thing they have to remember is to force the
change from sensitizing to desensitizing (or vice versa) by using the
appropriate keypress to reload the window in the staff client if
switching tabs or loading new windows using a mouse or menu action.
To the best of my knowledge, they have not reported any other
RFID-specific problems.

Me too! I think we've asked this question a few times and gotten very
essentially no responses. That said, someone somewhere reported using 3M
RFID (tags? security gates? staff stations? self check-out?
self-checkin? sorters?)
Come out, come out wherever you are!

I would be very interested in that information, too.
