I am not sure what that error means.  However, you could limit your search to 
fields containing just 'LT' that should retrieve both LT and LT-.  If that 
doesn't work, you could change the operator to 'In List', and list all your 
laptop Call Numbers in a comma separated list as the Value operand.  Not sure 
how many laptop call numbers you have, so that might not be feasible, although 
it would prevent false positives because searching for just 'LT' might hit LCC 
subclass 'LT' textbooks, if you are using Library of Congress.
