Job Description: The Indiana State Library has a need to fill their vacant Program Director 1, Evergreen ILS Coordinator, position which fulfills a dual role coordinating efforts for both the Evergreen Indiana Integrated Library System and INSPIRE – Indiana’s Virtual Library. INSPIRE (www.inspire.in.gov) is operated by the Indiana State Library and provides residents of Indiana with access to high-quality, peer reviewed, online electronic information resources. As the INSPIRE Coordinator, the selected candidate will be responsible for evaluating and making recommendations on all aspects of the site including the user interface and databases. The selected candidate will also responsible for the day-to-day operations of the Virtual Library, which includes coordinating the work of an operations vendor, Indiana Office of Technology, and State Library staff. The Evergreen Indiana Coordinator will be responsible for implementing and managing the State Library’s statewide open-source ILS initiative. This groundbreaking library project coordinates efforts to implement Evergreen at all sizes and types of libraries in Indiana. This position will provide support to member libraries participating in the Indiana Evergreen Consortium (currently over 100 libraries) and the responsibilities include managing all aspects of the program, coordination of the work of State Library staff, ten committees, and support vendors, training, and future planning. INSPIRE had an operational upgrade on July 1, 2012 which resulted in a new interface and three additional databases. Evergreen underwent a system upgrade on September 14, 2012 and will likely require another upgrade to be managed by the Coordinator in 2013.
