Another option is to use the Authentication Proxy service of Evergreen to login
your staff through your institutional authentication. A sample authentication
mechanism for LDAP is included and can be configured in opensrf.xml. To use
it, you would create Evergreen usernames that match your staff's usernames in
LDAP, and then those users would login to the Evergreen client using their LDAP
username and password (rather than a new Evergreen password). This service was
added in Evergreen 2.2. Documentation can be found here:

Subject: Re: [OPEN-ILS-GENERAL] Best practices for staff client usernames

We have a few libraries that setup a separate shared account specifically for
creating reports and sharing with the rest of the group. As far as output is
concerned, if it is really important I make a habit of saving a copy to an
accessible location for those that might need the information.

Subject: [OPEN-ILS-GENERAL] Best practices for staff client usernames
Hi,

My new director was asking my opinion on usernames and passwords for staff. I
am of two minds - I would like more personalized usernames for accountability
reasons, but I also recognize things like reports are tied to usernames and it
is easier just to change the password when people leave instead of setting up a
new user from scratch. We also have only one username for substitutes (by
branch) and this can get a bit confusing.

Any opinions?

Thanks,

Deana
