Hi all, I'm sending out a dual purpose message to both inform the community of the Evergreen web team list and to see if there is anyone interested in taking a leadership role in getting the web team back on track again.
The web team was made up of a group of people who met regularly to discuss and work on improvements for the evergreen-ils.org web site. The team also has a mailing list where people can discuss significant changes they would like to make to the web site. In general, people with wiki accounts or Evergreen WordPress accounts make small changes to the web site without checking in with the web team. However, larger changes often were posted to the mailing list before they were made. Details about the mailing list are available at http://list.evergreen-ils.org/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/evergreen-web-team The web team has been defunct for a few years, not due to lack of interest, but due to limited time. I'm sending out this message to 1) encourage people with an interest in the web site to sign up for the web team list (instructions are at the above URL and 2) to see if anyone would be interested in taking on the role of web team chair so that the group can start planning for the Evergreen web site again. Although there are many people who help keep the web site updated, the regular team meetings were a good way to keep people thinking of the mission of the site and improving it to better meet the needs of Evergreen users. In particular, the Outreach Committee has been discussing ways to make the site better for newcomers to the community. This is an improvement that I think should be in the hands of the web team or, at a minimum, should be done in conjunction with the web team. Feel free to let me know if you have any questions!
