We have an immediate requirement for a Technical Writer with Freddie Mac in Northern VA. Job Title: Technical Writer(3-4 years experience, mid level) Duration: 6 months Job Description: Develops, writes, designs and edits technical user documentation for complex Pricing application. Publish user documentation standards and communicate changes in standards to the project team. This position shall also assists in maintaining and organizing PMLC/SDLC documentation as well as capture Evidence of Control for OQC reviews. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Develops, writes, edits and designs user manuals, specification sheets, application notes, installation guides and other software application related documentation. Closely interacts with development teams, and subject-matter experts Aligns with the goals, strategies, and objectives of a project and demonstrates responsibility to ensure they are met. Research information about the application by interviewing subject-matter experts and using the application. Produces screen shots, schemata and related graphic material for user documentation. Follows style sheet guidelines, customer, and Freddie Mac style guides Proactively informs the Project Manager about project status, issues or concerns. Performs quality checks on deliverables and ensures quality of his/her own work before peak and pear reviews. Capture all Evidence of Control by closely working with the Analysts, developers and testers, required during the Quality and Control reviews. Maintaining the documentation management repository with updated artifacts so as to be utilized. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES: Proficiency in Word, PDF, Snagit, and Visio are essential along with technical writing expertise. Ability to describe complex functionality in a clear and concise manner. Team player with strong inter-personal and communication skills. Ability to work within project teams and towards established timelines. Expertise in technical writing, proofreading, technical editing of word and other documents, integration of various documents into a cohesive product, and preparation of graphical and narrative presentation material. Minimum of 4 years of relevant technical writing experience, 6 or more years of recent experience preferred. Familiarity with the financial services industry and secondary mortgage market is a plus.
