Location: Minneapolis but would work from home most of the time Duration: 6+ months Rate: $40/hr Client: Non-profit housing organization Job Description: Work as part of a small team to make major enhancements to an existing three-tier web application running in Tomcat on Linux. The project's major development languages are Java and Velocity on server side and HTML and Javascript on client side. The project uses open source frameworks and tools including Turbine, Torque, Velocity, Subversion, and Eclipse. Required Skills & Experience: - 2-4 years professional experience with Java Web development - 2-4 years professional experience with DHTML/AJAX, CSS - 1-3 years professional experience using SQL - Experience with Servlet/JSP development (EJBs not crucial) - Working knowledge of at least one Servlet/JSP based web development framework - Familiarity with Tomcat and Java on Unix/Linux as a target platform - Experience using automated unit testing and integration tools such as JUnit, Mock Objects, and Cruise Control - Working knowledge of OOAD principles and techniques - Working experience with XML, XSLT Desirable Skills & Experience: - Experience with Open Source tools, frameworks, and communities, especially Eclipse, Turbine, Torque, and Velocity - Experience implementing the DAO pattern in a non-EJB setting - Experience with agile methodologies - Broad base of knowledge and experience in all phases of software development life cycle Distinguishing Attributes: - Self motivated, quality-focused, works efficiently with minimal supervision, curious, energetically attacks difficult tasks, excited by learning and the open exchange of ideas and information, excellent debugger, excellent communication skills.
